NV man buys Apex

A NORTH Vancouver man has purchased the Apex
Alpine ski resort near Penticton.

Deep Cove resident Bill Trimble, who owns the WAT
Greop of Companies, which controls 11 different com-
panies, paid $4.12 million for the southern Okanagan ski
resort.

He bad’ been the controlling shareholder of Apex
Alpine. for the past five years, and when an offshore in-
vest: made an offer for Apex, Trimble bought out the
existing sharcholders.

“This year we're looking at building an 80-room hotel.
We are the éestination, ski resort for the southern
Okanzgan and we have o pretty loyal and consistent
client base.

Trimble said Apex Alpine currently serves about
100,000 skiers a year.

He said ke aims to boost that figure to 120,000 within
the next two years.

Police seek witnes
THE NORTH Vancouver RCMP are asking for the
public’s help in finding a person who spotted two rob-
bery suspects after a bank robbery in North Vancouver.
The police would like to talk to the man.

On Ionday, Feb. 22, at about 3:55 a.m., the Bank of
Montresl*branch at 1120 Marine Dr., North Vancouver
was keld wp by two maiz suspects.

‘ A’green Dodge van, which was used during the rob-
bery, was found two blocks north of the bank in the
7 1600 block of Keith Road in North Vancouver.
“. Ybe suspects are believed to. have used 9 second vehicle
: parked on Keith Road to leave the aren.

‘Immediately’ after the robbery, the West Vancouver

The suspects were in a late-model 1980s red Ford

A 30-YEAR-OLD Filipino man has had one of his legs
amputated after it was crushed from the knee down in a
Saturday, March 27, accident on the North Vancouver

waterfront.

Meibin Sarabia, 4 crew member
of the Philippines-registered
vessel, Oceanic Mindoro, had
been lowering a lifeboat during a
surprise Coast Guard safety in-
spection at berth one of Neptune
Bulk Terminals.

Sarabia’s teft leg became tangl-
ed in the cable of a lifeboat dur-
ing a fire drill at approximately 10
a.m. on Saturday.

The Coast Guard ship safety
department, located in West Van-
couver, conducted a surprise in-
spection of the vessel as part of an
international naval agreement that
requires inspections of 25% of
foreign vessels.

Sailor’s leg crushed in mishap
