NORTH WEST VAN RiINGETTE
Coquitlam beats Cougars

IN THE North West Vancouver Ringette Associa-
tion’s third weekend of play, the novice division
Cougars dropped a 4-2 decision to Coquitlam despite
a strong effort from Katie Emmings.

In other action, the Tween ‘‘B’’ Eagles scored a 7-1!
victory over Delta.

A strong defensive game for the Eagles was turned
in by Jennifer MacDonald, Tiffany Saibel and Allison
Gibbs.

Also adding to the team effort were Erin Dowling
and Joanna Wyler who each scored a goal.

The Junior ‘‘B" girls, meanwhile, downed PoCo
5-2 with Diane Reitzner and Nicole Miller teading the
offence for the local team.

The Belle ‘‘B'* Blades were also victorious as the
team downed the North Shore Winter Ciub 13-4.

First-year player Lisa Houpalainen scored her
first-ever goal in the victory.

In other action, the Deb ‘‘Destroyers’’ pulled out a
3-3 tie against Langley.

Anyone interested in watching ringette games can
do so on Saturday mornings at Karen Magnussen
Arena or at the West Van Arena from 3 to 6:30 p.m.

THE CANADIAN Federation of
Sport Organizations for the
Disabled has announced that the
Canadian Foresters have agreed to
financially support the Canadian
Games for the Physically Disabled.

A total of $187,500 will be con-
tributed by the Canadian Foresters
to assist in hosting the 1987, 1989,
and 1991 Canadian Games for the
Physically Disabled.

The games, hereafter to be nam-
ed the Canadian Foresters Games
for the Physically Disabled, are a
bi-annual competition involving
more than 400 blind, amputee and
wheelchair athletes from across
Canada.

The first Canadian Foresters
Games for the Physically Disabled
will be hosted by Brantford, On-
tario from Aug. 24 to 29, 1987.
