MM travel C17 - Sunday, May 8, 1983 - North Shore News BULK IS BETTER THE Canadians across the US border to DAYS when swarmed buy carloads of groceries are waning. Several factors in- cluding the © sick Canadian dollar and food taxes have made the trip unprofitable to all but the wisest shopper. Certain foods are just as expensive down South as they are here while others are higher bargains, such as poultry and eggs are severely limited. Still you cam save money if you've got enough capital to buy in bulk, take advantage of sales, know your prices and equate your duty. To help you choose your purchases wisely, Canada Customs has produced a fine _ list of popular products plus any duty and restrictions applicable and will send you a free copy if you contact your nearest Canada Customs office. We stay for lunch and leave the dinner cooking at home in the oven on “time-bake.” I have some favorite products that I don’t mind paying premium prices for because they aren't available in Canada. And, I use my list and a calculator to decide what products are a bargain. One thing, it’s sure fun to shop where the shelves aren't full of cans with the FRENCH side showing! Include at least one long- sleeve shirt - bugs can eat holes in you in the tropics. You can keep warm, too, by layering the shirt over a T- shirt. Add the cardigan and the raincoat.
