Copies of the resolution, adopted earher this month by the Chamber's board of directors, have been sent to key business and professional associations in Peace walk this Saturday TENS OF THOUSANDS of British Columbians are gearing up for another historic “Walk for Peace” through the streets of Vancouver, Apnil 23. Last year, the peace rally drew 35,000 people, making it the largest demonstration of its kind in Canadian history and the president of the group organizing the event believes there is potential for an equally impressive turnout for this year's walk. “British Columbians are more concerned than ever about the escalating arms race,” said Frank Kennedy, president of the End the Arms Race (EAR) com- mittee. Kennedy, who i1s_ also president of the Vancouver and District Labour Council, said the possibility of cruise missile testing in Canada has heightened the awareness of Canadians. “I think also that: more people are beginning to see the lunacy of bilhon dollar arms budgets against a backdrop of mounting unemployment and human misery.” This year’s Walk for Peace has been given an important added boost from Van- couver City council, which on March 15 voted to urge Vancouverites to join the walk by producing a brochure and distributing it to every residence in the city. The time and place of the rally will be the same as last year. Participants are asked to assemble at Kitsilano Beach Park at) noon on Saturday, April 23 for a march over the Burrard Strect Bridge to Sunset Beach.
