Transit and _ ICBC this month to combat thefts from vehicles. The Lock It Or Lose It cam- paign runs through the month of October. During will: @ Identify and target hot spots. @ Make contact with the public in parking lots and high-risk areas through the distribution of pam- philets and poster presentations. © Focus on enforcement through a “crime prevention” notice that will be teft on insecure vehicles. @ Patrol and = cenduct plain- clothes surveillance in high-risk the campaign police areas. . ; Some of the safeguards people -might implement to reduce the chances of being victimized: @ Close vehicle windows and lock all doors any time the car is unat- tended — even if only for a few tninutes. @ Do not leave valuables in the car. This prevents thefts and vandalism. @'Do not leave house keys or a garage door opener in the car. ® Never leave the vehicle running and unattended, rcgardless of the circumstances. @ Be a gocd cifizen.
