Accordingly, she won't take any = special precautions on the dreaded day. Kozacari is in Vancouver to participate in the Sixth Annual Holistic ESP Fair being held at the PNE Forum until Sunday. Besides being a fully cer- tified witch she is also an authority on superstitions, a subject she loves to discuss. “Friday the {3 is histori- cally considered an unlucky day even thuugh no wars or disasters have cver occurred on that date,"? Kozacari ex- plains. She states that the number 13 has international- ly been considered ill- boding. Pre-Christian Scandina- vians had a 13th god which was evil and Roman soldiers believed the number to be superstitious because they were unable to devise a hand signal for the number, Kozacari says. Today's prevalent dislike for 13 stems from Christian tradition in which Judas was recorded to be the 13th guest at the last supper, she says. Satan also prefers the number. Friday is also considered a sinister day. Sailors aren’t supposed to sail on Friday and people aren’t supposed to move house. ‘‘Tradi- tionally, Friday was the day for executions,’’ says Kozacari. ‘‘Combine the unfucky number with the ill-fated day and you get a superstitious double-wham- my.” Kozacari says that REPLACE aa & SAVE Get an all-new kitchen at manufacturer-to-you sav- ings. Not so, says Kozakari. She doesn’t believe in that trick or treat stuff. “Witches have received such a bad name for such a News Peepers FI ar eT e teN SAAT long time,’* she says. ‘‘Wit- chcraft is an ancient religion. We worship nature — the sea, the ocean — [ don’t sez anything evil in that. The Christian religion (which is a new kid on the block com- pared to withcraft) has always tried to discredit wit- chetaft because it was nerceived to be competition to the church.”* “Only in recent decades has the public tried to understand witches. We're sometimes called pagans which doesn’t bother me. The word’s root means that we come from the country,”’ she says. Kozakari doesn’t waste her time searching for eye of newt. She’s a practising psychic and likes to think of herself as someone who helps people solve their pro- blems. She’s even helped police in the United States and Ontario solve some cases, she says, although she prefers to play that down. “People come to me to solve their depressions, phobias and find out about their past lives. | help them through the crystal ball, tarot cards and by channel- See The Page 61 OR BRASS | FINISH {BULBS EXTRA). nas areputat gee lest wad , NORBURN LIGHTING CENTRE (NC. +O eA DUPONCHd SAMICE ANG.S Ine Dace" AGH Stargest Hapa, Gt! gn ioe ke gor ‘emugeting a a yOu ting ine ngnt ign ; WHOLESALE AND RETAIL FREE CATALOGUES AVAILABLE HOUAS.
