As recently as May 1979, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet faced serious financial problems and a_ large number of dancers were leaving. But artistic director Arnold Spohr said — the financial and turnover problems were cyclical and typical of performing arts groups across Canada. In fiscal 1979-80 the Royal Winnipeg eliminated its deficit of nearly $250,000 and finished with a $239,000 surplus, part of it raised by the ballet school. “We're very healthy financially and artistically,” said Wood. Have him play a character almost identical to himself and develop a good old country and western plot (hero picks up with young beautiful woman, wife finds out, pair reconciled), which is really no plot at all. Let the movie be liberally if not necessarily logically interspersed with songs and Stage performances. The only other thing you need to know 1s that the singer is Willie Nelson. If you like Willie Nelson you'll enjoy the film. If not, you'll find it dumb, sexist, and boring. I enjoyed the film. 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.
