But Zellweger plays a woman who's indifferent to her infant, and who engages in submissive sex with the emotionally void Sender. A tough sell for some audience members. Zellweger is luminous as the woman-child injured by the close-mindedness surrounding her, but less convincing as the liberated woman she becomes. Director Boaz Yakin has the makings ofa great film but there's just too much going on: a spa scene that runs too long and doesn't fit; a dead but med- dling older brother.
