McCredie Sports Reporter The Mersloma Masters, a women’s master softball squad comprised of players from through- out the Lower Mainland, recently returned as. victors from the World Championships in Brisbane, “Australia. They were one of two Canadian teams competing in the 35-44 age group tournament. The team compiled an impres- sive 7-1-1 round-robin record over the first five days of the tournament, their sole loss coming at the hands and bats of a strong squad from the United States. In the opening playoff round, the Meralomas again faced the United States, but this time the B.C. squad had the upper hand. However, after the States were beaten out of a final-game berth by the Meralomas, they beat an Australian team to take the final spot in the gold-silver game.
