Health Association (BCHA) and an Award of Excellence from B.C.’s Minister of Health. Thelma Sharp Cook, who recently became the first British Columbian to be appointed chair- man of the Canadian Hospital Association, was honored for her contributions to the BCHA and the overall good health of health care in B.C. In presenting the Ministry of Victoria hikes fuel tax rates INCREASES IN provincial tax rates on petroleusn fuels were an- nounced recently by Finance and Corporate Relations Minister Mel Couvelier. The changes, which result from indexing of provincial tax rates for petroleum products, include .59 cent per litre increases on leaded and unleaded gasoline and diesel fuel, and .18 cent per litre in- creases on aviation, locomotive and marine fuels and marked pro- pane and butane. The indexing formulas were in- troduced in the March 1981 pro- vincial budget and are based on the gasoline component of the Van- couver consumer price index. Better Health Award to Sharp Cook.
