THE PACIFIC National Exhib-
ition is hiring 1,000 employees for
PNE ‘86 Flashback Party August
16 - September 1 at Exhibition
Park.

Individuals seeking employment
should complete an application
form at any Canada Employment
Centre or special student centre.

Applications are then pre-
screened and forwarded to the
PNE.

“This system enables us to ob-
tain the best people available,’
says personne! coordinator Elsie
Hess. ‘‘We want to ensure our
fair-time employees will want to
do everything they can to enable

patrons to enjoy themselves at the
fair this summer.”’

Jobs include hosts, hostesses,
waiters, waitresses, bus people, ca-
shiers, runners, grounds sweepers,
ticket takers, poultry feeders, barn
sweepers, grounds maintenance
personnel, parkers, patrol people,
and grill cooks.

Wages start at $6.58 per hour.

Upon hiring, employees will be
offered a PNE orientation seminar
which includes Tourism British
Columbia's SuperHost program.

SuperHost is not new to the
Pacific National Exhibition.

The PNE first participated in the
program during 1985 Sp!ash Bash.

“We found out last year the
SuperHost program benefitted the
PNE in many ways,'’ explains
Hess. ‘‘Our fair patrons were
treated like guests.

“Basically, SuperHost ensures
the people we hire understand the
importance of a good service at-
titude. We want our employees to
be positive, happy, enthusiastic
and to be capable of providing in-
formation to everybody who at-
tends Flashback Party.’’

Part-time staff hired for the
August fair are not the only
employees who will participate in
the program. Permanent.
employees also will be involved.
