The North Vancouver high school’s junior and. senior squads captured their respective Lower Mainland zone champi- onships last weekend. The dual titles mark the first time the school has achieved such a feat in its history. This season is the third vear in a row that Argyle has won the North Shore senior tte, and the fifth straight year the juniors have claimed the North Shore crown, (Can vou say basketball factory? ) Following their 65-48 vierory over the Windsor Dukes in the North Shore championship final, the seaior Pipers won three straight on their march to the Lower Mainland triple-A zone championship. In the tinal of that tournament, the Pipers edged New Westminster 63-60. En GYMNASTICS... Host school Handsworth won the North Shore high school gymnastics tithe Saturday for the third time in four vears. The Royals accumulated 202 points in che 27th annual meet, followed by the Windsor Dukes (180 points), and the Sutherland Sabres (53). Individual top-three results included: Novice: 1. Sentinel Spartans bowed out of the tournament carly as they lost their first two games (69-51 to Lord Bung, 68-56 to CLE. London). Argyle’s Rosalyn Hicks was named tournament most valuable player, while Pipers Catherine Judd and Jenn Wickson were named to che tournament all-star squad. West Van's Caroline Rowles was also named to the 10-plaver all-star team.
