_ North Vancouver Folkfest has official-

ly become the North Shore Folkfest
- Society. For the hundreds of volunteers

that perform and work on this annual
- June event this is a transitional moment.

... There is sadness because the B.C.

Folkfest Society officially closed its doors

this summer.

~ This umbrella organization served so
many community Folktests over the years

-aind a special thank-you must go out to
: Francis Fridge and her volunteer staff for
» all of their hard work.

--The North Shore Folkfest Society i is as
“Vibrant and active as ever because of the
interwoven support and commitment of
all sectors of the North Shore.

This is an opportune time to say a spe-
cial thank you to them all.

North Shore News, Capilano Mall, the
Lonsdale Quay Market, and the Lower

Vancouver Heritage Advisory
Commission and the North Vancouver
Chamber of Commerce this annual event
flourishes,

With the enthusiasm of the North
Vancouver Arts Council who present the
on-street craft fair and Silver Harbour
who present craft demonstrations the
many components of Folkfest continue to
delight the community.

But most important has been the
growing flood of audiences attending all
events thar make Folkfest successful — a
tribute to the people sharing their love of
their heritage, their talent and dedication.

A leash can save
your dog’s life

Dear Editor:

Last Sunday, I witnessed a
second heart wrenching
trogedy. An unleashed dog
bounded in front of an
oncoming car behind Park
Roval South, at one of the
entrances to Ambleside Park.
In this instance, it was not the
driver’s fault; the car was not
travelling at a high rate of
speed, as was the case in the
first tragedy I witnessed some
six months ago. However, the
end result was the same: the
poor animal sustained such
serious injuries thar he was
euthanised.

Ambleside Park is a great
off-leash area and should
remain so, bur what needs to
be emphasized is that the park
is off-leash, not the roadways
around it. We owe it to these

wonderful companions of

ours whose lives are so trust-
ingly placed in our hands to
do our very best to protect
them at all times.

Please, everyone, leash
your dog any time there is
potential for disaster. Don’t
uke a chance with a life that is
too short to begin with.
