Two squads capture titles

TWO North Shore
Selects boys’ soccer teams
are Coastal Premier Cup
champions.

The U-15 Selects blanked
Vancouver City United 2-nil
last Saturday in Abbotsford to
claim the under-15 boys’ title.
The Selects victory avenged an
heartbreaking shootout loss in
last’ year’s Cup final to
Vancouver City.

This year’s match was the
third meeting in the finals for
these two teams, with the
Sclects now holding a 2-1
advantage.

In addition to winning the
Coastal Cup, the U-15 Selects
captured the Lower Mainland

and Victoria Region league
championships, logging an
impressive 12-1-1 record,

U-15 player fan Hunter
wus named to the Costal Cup
tournament all-star team.

In under-17 action, North
Shore Selects U-17 edged
Richmond United 2-1 to
claim their Coastal Premier
Cup. Selects’ player Struan
Howes was selected to the
tournzment all-star team.

Lions Gate Capiianos U-
i3 team lost 2-1 to Metroford
Ajax in the U-13 Coast
Premier Cup final.

Both North Shore Selects
advance to the provincial
championships in Kelowna
July 13-14, Winners from that
toumament represent B.C. at
the National Championships at

Thanksgiving.
