THE FOLLOWING is. a
selection of volunteer oppor-
tunities available through
North Shore Community
Services (NSCS).

Tax preparers. willing to help
people with low incomes prepare
their tax forms are needed. The
forms used are the simple tax
ferms. A training session will be
held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:36 p.m.
on Friday, Jan. 26.

A recreation assistent is need-
ed to spend a few hours a week
with a mentally handicapped adult.
This person is fairly independent
and interested in fitness activities
such as swimming or karate.

Insomniacs are needed by the
North Vancouver Winter Games to
help supervise young athletes from
midnight to 6:00 a.m. in temporary
dorms that are being set up for the
Games. Volunteers work in teams
and training is provided. A crimi-

nal records check is required.

Supervisors for teen events are
needed by the North Vancouver
Winter Games. Events planned
include dances, pool parties and
bowling and will take place on the
Friday and Saturday evenings of
the Games (Feb. 23-24). A crimi-
nal records check is required.

Tse shep volurteers are need-
ed by a seniors’ care facility to
assist residents who would like to
buy smali items at the shop. The
shop is open Monday, Wednesday
aad Friday and shifts are two to
three hours.

Executive director is needed
by a local foundation that helps to
support a library. Duties would
include organizing an office, help-
ing the foundation carry out its

functions and working with volun- ~

teer staff.
