with a contemporary dance:

Silverman.

formed at the Vancouver
Playhouse Sept. 19-21,

Tales from the Vaudeville Stage,
a highty-stylized social satire that ts
Marcuse’s datest creation. is her
longest piece ind six, years. The
55-minute work. broken into
smaller segments, investigates per
sonal and political relationships in
a macabre vein.

The work is set to music that
ranges from Mickey Hart's percus-
sion rhythms to an original cam-
position by Vancouver musician,
John Oliver.

The second half of the program
epens with the Canadian prenuere
of Family from the New York hus-
band and wife choreographic
team, Shapiro and Smith.

Siiverman will give his first
public performance of the soon-
to-be-recorded Rachmaninait’s
Piano Sonata No. 2., and will join
Marcuse Dance and violinist Geot-
frey Michaels to close the evening
with Marcuse’s lyrical baltet,
Traces,
