Physiological Needs : The satisfaction’ of. body demands ~ hunger, thirst, rest, exercise; sex, etc. - 2. Safety Needs: Under self preservation - protection from physical danger, financial _loss, mental discomfort, emotional anguish 3. Social Needs: The supply of those things that makes one acceptable to others - material goods, memberships, etc. . 4. Egoistic Needs: The supply of whatever is necessary to provide selif esteem and the esteem of others. 5. Self Fulfilment: The supply of social and egoistic needs that produce vocation ‘al contentment, social acceptance, ego satisfaction. Most workers have the ficst three satisfied by their _ social stylefor — managing jobs. Either through. their working contracts. or the availability of government assistance programs, safety needs provide little motivation for going extra mile.. bowling leagues, picnics, newsletters, — etc. and incomes, incentives, bonuses, etc. look after most and = physiological Similarly, needs. The challenge of management style in this day and age must be directed to the egoistic . and fulfilment needs. To meet them, the manager must accept a few facts of life he/she may ‘dispute. However, facts they are and the trick is to ignore the small minority that defy them so you know precisely where you stand with the rest: The majority of people’ LIKE their work. They’re happiest when they do work they consider to be worth while and are able to use their best talents. All workers are goal oriented.
