The incident occurred about 8:25 p.m. half a mile west of the Caulfeild over- pass when the engine com- partment of a GMC Subur- ban truck owned by Ron Edie of Gold River burst into flames. The fire spread through the truck, its heat melting the boat, then engulfed the trailer, setting the latter’s propane tanks alight. There were no injuries, but the vehicles and their entire contents—valued at a total of $18,000—were lost, despite the best efforts of the West Vancouver fire department which arrived at the scene soon after the blaze erupted.
