The mayor added that
she wished the band would
have given the municipality
a courtesy call,
“They probably assumed
we knew it was coming,”
she said.
Boname added that the
municipality recently
extended a service agree-
ment with the Squamish
Nation through the year
2000.
The agreement, original-
ly signed in 1993, provides West Vancouver
with 75% of municipal taxes from band land in
exchange for services such as policing, sewer
and water extended on to the properties.

The cadet squadron
recently celebrated its 50th
anniversary. During
Deschamps’ tenure the

squadron achieved many mile-
stones, including growth to
over 100 cadets and an award
as the top squadron in the
Province.

The ceremony will be held
at the J.P. Fell Armory in
North Vancouver at 7 p.m, on
Feb. 17. The public is wel-
