Sunday, May 15. 1994 - North Shore News - 13 Smallwood to address women THE HONORABLE Joan Small- wood, Minister of Housing, Recreation and Consumer Services. will address the Annual General Meeting of the North Shore Women's Centre (NSWC) on Wednesday, May 15. Smaliwood's present mandate includes developing a comprehen- sive housing policy for B.C., strengthening consumer education services and ensuring access to recreation for all British Columbians. It is her involvement with the housing issue that is of particular interest to the Women’s Centre and its members. Although this is not an informa- tion session on affordable housing, Smallwood will present an overview of government initiatives in the area of affordable housing which is of concern to single women, As purt of its advocacy program, the NSWC has applied for funding to perforni a needs assessment for second-stage housing on the North Shore.
