NORTH VANCOUVER DISTRICT COUNCIL Creek park decision deferred AFTER 40° concerned residents waited two hours to hear the fate of 9 proposed tot park near Mos- quito Creek, many of them groaned loudly Monday when North Vancouver District Council deferred the decision to another Meeting. By Anna Marie 0’ Angelo Contributing Writer The proposed 10-metre square children’s play area slated for a small clearing just off the pith: to Mosquito Creek Bridge drew op- posing delegations at the March 25 council meeting. Park opponents said the area is wild park and the proposed children’s play area would be un- safe because it would be close to the creek. But people who supported the tot park, initially estimated to cost $15,000. said it is needed for children in the area and it will help unite the community. During Monday’s meeting, Ald. Paul Turner asked Mayor Murray Dykemaa to ‘‘bend the rules’’ and Jet the unhappy residents ask questions, but the mayor said they had dealt with the matter and apologized to the group. Ald. Joan Gadsby said she was prepared to make a decision without the reports. “We have a number of people sitting here for a number of hours,”’ she said. And Ald. Rick Buchols asked if a set time could be arranged so in the future the group didn’t ‘‘have to sit through (council pro- ceedings) for three hours.”’ Council] members are waiting for reports from the RCMP con- cerning crime in the area and a staff report from the district’s social pianner.
