North Shore Studios
general manager named

CANNELL STUDIOS executive
Ralph Alderman has been ap-
pointed to the newly-created post
of general manager of the com-
pany’s North Shore Studios.

North Shore Studios, now under
construction with a June comple-
tion date, will be the largest mo-
tion picture and television produc-
tion facility in Canada. Cannell
Studios and Comweb Entertain-
ment Inc. are joint venture part-
ners in the studio.

Alderman will be responsible for
the supervision and management
of the North Shore Studios facili-
ty, the leasing of offices and sound
stages, and tenant and community
relations.

“My objective in managing the
studio will be to provide an en-
vironment attractive to television
and film producers from both
Canada and the United States,"
Alderman said. ‘‘Based on the
filming activity in Vancouver in

recent years, we know there will be
a great demand for this facility —
our goal is to fill the void and in-
crease the level of production
sophistication already present in
the area.*’

Since 1981, Alderman has been a
production executive responsible
for locations and government rela-
tions for Cannell Studios. While
working at Cannell, he served as
president of Teamsters Local 399
frorn May 9, 1984 to June 7, 1985.

He is an advisory member to the
California State Film Council and
a volunteer consultant to the
California State Highway Patrol.

Prior to joining Cannell Studios,
Alderman was a location manager
for Universal Studios and for
various independent producers.

Construction on North Shore
Studios, situated on a 13.5-acre
site at the new Park and Tilford
development, is two-thirds com-
pleted.

The studio includes seven state-
of-the-art sound stages and over
100,000 square feet of offices,
technical support and production
support facilities. It alsc features
spacious interior courtyards and a
large central plaza area.
