16 ~ Wednesday, April 22, 1987 ~ North Shore News’ LOCAL YOUTH Bowlers hit tourney THE B.C. Youth Provincial 10- Pin Bowling Association held its annual Provincial Quelifying Tournament March 29. Lions Gate Lanes in West Van- couver hosted the bantam and junior bowlers and the senior divi- sion bowled at Thunderbird Lanes in North Vancouver. There were 130 players from the Lower Mainland, Penticton, Campbell River, Nanaimo, Dun- can and Victoria entered in the eight-game event. The six gold medal winners will represent B.C. in Regina on May 22 to 25 when they bowl in the Canadian 10-Pin Federation Youth Championships. The Jiltings team of Leigii-Anne Slym, Karen Kirk and Lee Jillings had a tremendous team perfor- mance with Slym bowling 215, 165, 182 and 187 for a 749 total. Kirk had a 215 game and a 765 four-game series, while Jillings bowled an 827 total with games of 177, 244, 215 and 211. Bowling in the Royalette Ladies League, May Franks bowled 147 pins over her average with games of 178 , 159 and 188 for a 525 total. : Marge Gardner was top woman bowler in the Neates Coffee Dou- bles League when she bowled games of 181, 207, 192 and 217 for a 797 total. Sparing in the league, Al Boyd had a 921 with games of 211, 248, 226 and 236. In the Avalon Hotel B.C. Ail Star League, Mark Innes rolled games of 246, 203, 201 and 208 for an 858 total. Mark Innes was spectacular while sparing in the Duggan West Insurance Mixed Trio League with games of 235, 237, 257 and 245 for a 974 total. Kathie MacPherson bowled 175 pins over average with games of 160, 202, 213 and 224 for a 799 series. In the Youth Bowling Program at Lions Gate Lanes bantam bowl- er Tommy Brock, who has a 43- point average, bowled games of 104, 68 and 68 for a 240 series. Five-year-old Dennis Konaswich had games of 88, 65 and 46 for a LIVE W *) pero 199 total. In the senior division the Scratched the Surface team of Laura Howden, Michelle Byrom and Tamara Van Gelder bowled a big team total of 1,807 including handicap.
