$100,000 seizure nets charges THREE LOWER Mainland men appeared in North Vancouver provincial court Monday charged with three fisheries violations stemming from one of the largest seizures of salmon in B.C. histo- ry. Lawrence Beeckner and Peter Buchmeier, both of Richmond, and Dale Vidulich of Ladner, operator of the Deep Six Fish Co., were charged with possession of fish caught under authority of aa Indian fish food ticence, possession of fish caught during a period closed to commercial fishing and selling salmen roe. The charges were laid against the trio in connection with a selaure of fist on Sept. 10 and 11, More than 6,800 kilograms of Freshly dressed chinook and sockeye salmon, worth an estimated $100,000, were confiscated in the seizure. Appearing before North Vancouver provincial court Judge J.K, Shaw, the three were remanded to Feb. 5, 1987 to stand trial. Seaspan sale made official THE SALE OF Seaspan International Ltd. has been made official. On Oct. 15, the $110 million deal to buy the North Vancouver company was concluded. The new owners are Vancouver businessmen James Angus, Harald Ludwig, Grant MacLaren and Peter Shields. Seaspan is Canada's largest tug and barge company, operating 48 tugs, two train ships, and 240 special purpose barges. The company is engaged. in the bulk transportation of logs, lumber, wood chips, sawdust, hogfuel, pulp and paper and other general cargo. Seaspan's North Vancouver shipyard division designs, builds and repairs tugs, barges and specialized marine equipment. Struck cyclist dies CYCLIST Neit Walker, who was struck by a car Oct. 5, died at Vancouver General Hospital last week. A hospital spokesman said Walker, 26, died of complications as a result of the accident. Walker was riding his bicycle eastbound on Keith Road at the time of the accident. He was rushed to Lions Gate Hosptial and transferred to VWGH’s Intensive Care unit Friday, where he was profiounced dead. North Vancouver RCMP said charges are pending against a North Vancouver man who struck Walker and fled the scene of the accident.’ . The man, whose name has not yet been released, will appear in court Nov. 5. . WV man faces 14 charges A 36-year-old West Vancouver man was charged with 13 counts of break and enter and theft. Thomas Edward Corbett also faces one count of break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence. West Vancouver Police said the offences occurred over the past nine months, and that several pairs of ladies’ shoes were stolen. Assault trial to begin A NORTH VANCOUVER man will appear for a preliminary hearing on charges of assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm. The charges were laid against 39-year-old Douglas Stuart Kane in connection with an Aug. 28 incident in which he is alleged to have assaulted a female. Appearing before Judge J.D. Layton, Kane was remanded to Jan. 19, 1987 for a preliminary hearing on the charges.
