NORTH VANCOUVER
District has filed a response
to the Supreme Court suit
launched by five residents of
the Premier Street landfill
site last week.

Mayor Marilyn Baker
confirmed Monday that the
district has filed an
appearance with the B.C.

Supreme Court saying it will
contest the suit,

_ “The matter is now in the
hands of our insurance and
legal advisers,” Baker told
the News Tuesday.

The suit was launched by
families living in the
Greenock Place, Limerick
Place and West Queens area
last Thursday.

In their statement of
claim, the families ask that
the Premier Street landfill

site be declared illegal and a .

nuisance and that a
permanent injunction be
granted closing the dump.
The families are also
seeking damages for a 50 per
cent loss in property value
they claim,to have suffered.
