B2 - Sunday, May 1, 1983 - North Shore News side-lines Pegasus is not a rich club. In fact, they consistently run on the thin edge that separates red from black on ledger sheets. But even so, they are willing to put out tremendous amounts of time and money to help create a badly needed facility on the North Shore. Kinsmen Stadium just isn’t enough. More games have been cancelled there because of poor conditions than seem to have been scheduled for the field. Itis a field which can't handle any kind of heavy use. And that leaves Mahon with its gravel field and far away stadium. A good, well maintained field with 2,000 covered seats would be an asset to the North Shore. It would open up the prospects for some reasonable events which could be staged here instead of the “other side”. by Andy Fraser At least say ‘thanks’ A PAT ON the back to Peter Scott and the Pegasus Soccer Club for their ambition in wanting to put a 2,000 seat covered stadium on Norseman field and, apart from limited field use themselves, encouraging community use of the facility for which the club would provide maintenance. And it would provide a home base for Pegasus, which has consistently been one of the top club teams in the country over the years. The fact that Pegasus is still located on the North Shore is something of a mystery. When they were in the Pacific Northwest League and playing the reserves sides of Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, plus their annual season game against Seattle Sounders full team, the club would be scram- bling for fields. They never received the media coverage they deserved because so often games were cancelled or field locations changed at the last minute. The Ofganization never felt anyone cared about them among the pawers that be.
