Administrative Costs

The Commission on School District Administrative Costs
has been established by the Hon. William Vander Zatm.

Minister of Education. to investigate possible cost savings
in the administration of B.C. schoo! districts. The Commis
stoners are Mark W. Sager. Chairman. and Allan G Stables

The Commisston ts to examine school district operations ime luding
admunstration costs. in order to
(a) determine the functions of school district administrators

(b) determine the appropnate percentage of the total operating costs
In areas Considered to be high. and will
{() examine the variance in the percentage from distract to district

(ad) examine possible recommendations to reduce Costs im areas
considered to be high

The review will also include studies of

(1) The number of administrators and the administrative structures at
the school district level

(2) The optimal geographic arrangements for school disticts

(3) Grouping of school disticts for business and mamtenaace purposes

while remaining independent on educational msues

The Commission will arrange for and hold regional public

meetings and personal examinations of the tssues as
required

The Commission will report its findings to the Minister of
Education no later than September | 1983

The Commission will hear submissions from the public
