B12 - Sunday, June 20, 1982 - North Shore News GE entertainment Hawaiian group still popular By NANCY WEATHERLEY YOUD HARDLY believe we were in the poverty- stricken depths of economic recession to have seen the packed house at the Interna- tional) Plaza's Plazazz showroom Tuesday night. Patrons had cheerfuly paid a $9.50 weeknight covercharge to hear the Hawaiian musical group Society of Seven - and they seemed to be getting their money’s worth. The group gives a very slick performance, and all the SOS members are so ver- satile and individually talented you have to be im- pressed They do everything from a silly James Bond skit to soulful broadway hits to rock and roll. And when one member of the group is starr- mg the others are able to switch instruments and back each other up with no loss of quality. Highlights of the show in- clude Eddy Ramirez playing a series of instruments from the flute to the trombone in one song which winds up with him playing two trumpets at once - quite a finale. And Jun Polistiko does great impressions of Frank Sinatra and Johnny Mathis. It's very much a Waikiki- style show, slick, superficial and lots of fun children’s visual and performing arts workshops July V5 July IS 29 Augs 12 bercauix cits en francais dUuguUst 16 26 REGISTER NOW! today!
