Double
shock for

Car owner

The owner of a car parked
in West Vancouver on the
900 block Marine Drive got a
double shock when tuming
on the ignition Sunday af-
ternoon.

Instead of starting, the
engine burst into flames.
And a check under the hood
showed why — no car-
buretor.

While the owner was away
from the car, somcone had
stolen the carburetor, with
the result that when the
ignition was turned on raw
gas Nooded directly into the
engine and caught fire.

West Vancouver firemen
put out the fire with a dry
chemical cxtinguisher .

A North’ Vancouver
wedding reception closed in
tragedy last weekend when
four men who had been to
the reception were stabbed
in the street at 3 a.m.
Sunday.

RCMP investigations indi-
cate that a fight broke out
between a group of six men
and two brothers ouside the
armouries ‘on Forbes Street
at 15th, near where the
reception had been held.

During the fight a buck

The crash of a helicopter
July 3 near Stewart in
northern B.C. has claimed
the lives of three North
Shore residents.

Dead are Keith Alexander
MacLean, 40, of West
Vancouver, Christopher
Gunn, 40, of North Van-
couver; and Ian Ross Shaw,
20, of West Vancouver.

MacLean and Gunn, both
senior geologists, were
employees of DuPont of
Canada Exploration Ltd.,
charterers of the helicopter
