Best Spert Award had to go to pretty Jili Marshall, the top-sell- ing life insurance agent in Canada, who took a whipped cream pie in the face from her client, wealthy lumberman Bob Smurthwaite. He really plastered er! She was a sight to behold. It was a unique and fun way to raise money for such a worthy cause. Kudos too, to CBC’s Kevin Evans as emcee and to talented auctioneer Barry Scott, who helped a little nine-year-old who was a recovered leukemia victim, auction off a large stuffed Mickey Mouse for $6,000. It was the same kind of infec- tous spirit of giving that pervaded the party that night at the home of American Con. Gen. David Jobnson and his wife, Scarlett Swann. This was the Midsummer's Eve gaia fundraising dinner and auc- tion for the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS).
