Each member was presented with a certificate of award for leadership demonstrated in recre- ation commission and community activities. Said Lynn Valley youth programmer Gary Maason, ‘The teen committee is a vital and im- portant link to the needs and in- terests of young people in the community. The present commit- tee has been responsible for many exciting teen programs in the Lynn Valley area and this dinner is a small way to recognize those ef- forts.”* In addition to helping to identify youth needs and areas of interest, members of the committee also participate actively as volunteers in special community projects and activities. Some members of the committee themselves have been participants in exciting activities like a cross-Canada youth ex- change, a week long leadership camp in the Interior and speaking at youth-related conferences. The teen committee usually has between 10 and 12 active members ranging from 13 to 18 years of age.
