Track club grabs nine firsts

First meet for NS speedsters

The newly formed
Pacific crack and field
club picked up an
impressive nine firsts,
six seconds and seven

thirds at their first
competition held in
Powell River last
weekend.

A total of 1S athletes took

part in the meet picking up
the 22 medals

In girls 16 year old events
Valene Bain picked up a
firstin the 1500 metres and a
fifth in the 400° Marnic
Blackbur took a first in the
high yump and a fourth in the
100 metres

Janice Bain captured a
parr of firsts in the girls 13
year 1500 and 400 metres

while Janet Lee grabbed two
seconds in the 12 year 400
and 100 metres

In girls 11 years, Michele
Hullah took second in the
1500 metres and third tn the
400 metres. Cheryl
Birarda won two firsts in the

1500 and 400 for 10 year old
girls

while

Charlene Virgl took a
third place medal in the girls
400 metre for 15 vear olds.

In boys competition 16
year old Garner Stone
captured the 1500 metres

while Mike Horembala took
a first in the 14 year old 1500
and a third in the 400. Mark

Piercey took 3rd in the 1500
