Behe 0 - Wednesday, May 17, 1989 - North Shore News NV firm gets loan for display system NORTH VANCOUVER’S Strahl , Technologies Inc. will receive a $449,000 loan from the federal government to help it develop and manufacture a revolutionary graphics and video display system, North Vancouver MP Chuck Cook announced recently. The federal contribution will go towards an $898,000 development project that could establish a new manufacturing facility employing 25 people to produce color graphics and video display systems. Strahl owns the manufacturing and marketing rights to the pat- ented ‘Sunfire’ color graphics and video display system developed by Sportsoft Systems, also of North Vancouver. The Sunfire system is designed for the large-screen graphic display market, which includes electronic billboards, scoreboards and public message displays. Major components of the pro- ject include developing the hard- ware, software, manufacturing process, commercial sign package and prototype tooling. Cook said the Strahl system uses Squamish Hospital receives funding THE SQUAMISH Hospital Socie- ty has received approval of a $10,465 B.C. Lottery Fund award to help establish a personal emergency response syste, West Vancouver-Howe Sound MLA John Reynolds announced recent- ly. “This funding allows the society to purchase the central monitor and 25 home units which will give peace of mind to 25 frail, handi- capped and medically ‘at risk’ in- dividuals who live alone,’’ said Reynolds. ‘‘Such systems are monitored 24-hours a day and relieve anxiety.”’ The system involves a small radio transmitter worn as a pen- dant around the neck. In an emergency, the wearer presses a button that sends a message to the hospital-based central monitoring station. There is an immediate response. Said Health Minister Peter Dueck: “‘These systems are an im- portant contribution not only to health care in this province, but to the cost effectiveness of that care as well.’” POOLS & SPAS IDEAL POOL & PATI Commercial and Residential.
