THE ARTIST who had works
hanging in the royal suite during
the recent visit of the Queen is
having an exhibition at North
Vancouver City Hall until Nov. 4.

Sam Carver, whose masters
degree thesis centred on the
creating of plans for an interna-
tional garden and flower exhib-
ition, exhibits garden plans teatur-
ing Egyptian, Chinese, Islamic,
Romantic, formai, Victorian and
other designs.

Percussionist
to play Bach

PERCUSSIONIST AND North
Vancouver native Alan Hether-
ington will be playing Bach violin
sonatas, Mexican dances and
ragtime Oct. 30 at the Burnaby Art
Gallery.

Sponsored by the Clef Society of
Burnaby, Hetherington’s perfor-
mance will share the evening with
pianist Sasha Stark, who will play
romantic and contemporary music.

Cabaret focuses
on WY history

WEST VANCOUVER history
comes to St. Christopher’s
Anglican Church on the evenings
of Oct: 23 and 24 in the cabaret
titled Then and Now — 1912-1987
performed there.

Directing the show is Elizabeth
NeNeight, a well-known North
Shore resident who has
choreographed shows in Van-
couver and Montreal, including the
latter’s Lyric Theatre, the Becket
Players, and North Vancouver
Community Players.

Oktoberfest held

WEST VANCOUVER'S David
Friton Enterprises is hosting a
German-style Oktoberfest ‘87
oompahpah bash at the Com-
modore Ballroom in Vancouver
Oct. 23 and 24.

Authentic German food, yodell-
ing contests and sausage-eating
competitions will be held, and
various bands — including the
Happy Wanderers perform
nightly.

Shows start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets
