VANCOUVER as it was in £792 will greet visitors to
Caper’s Restaurant in West Vancouver.

Artist Jim McKenzie, 33, has been commissioned to
paint an outdoor mural by the restaurant owners.

This is the first mural for MeKenzie, who studied
art at UBC, and now lives on Mayne Island.

He began painting the 20-by-30-foot mural two
wecks ago, and estimates it will be completed in two
weeks if good weather contnues,

The image was fiist painted by McKenzie for Van-
couver Magazine, which published it as a Vancouver
Centennial commemorative last year.

The original drawing was donated, by McKenzie, to
the city of Vancouver, and hangs in Mayor Michael
Harcourt’s office.

The artist is using the air brush technique, using
lacquer paints on the mural,
