No pians to pave Ni. Van creek trail Dear Editer Re: Paving Project Not Worthy - March 20. 1996 Over the past year there have been many rumors regard- ‘ing proposed changes to the Mosquito Creck Trail. As I have repeatedly stated to many concerned citizens, the City and District of North Vancouver Council and staff have av intention of paving the Mosquito Creek Trail. There is no money earmarked to pave this trail, contrary to Mr. Espin’s . statement (Paving Project Not Worth. March 20 : News). The city went through an extensive public input process in 1994 dealing Mosquito Creek Park Mixed Use of trails. District council passed a resolution to form a joint com- mittee of representatives of the bicycling community, resi- dents and staff be established to examine the existing issues surrounding the use of Mosquito Creek Trail and to make recommendations for its fuiure use. A public workshop will be held on April 11 at Balmoral secondary school, 3365 Mahon Ave., starting at 7 p.m. to explore solutions to the problems that the committee has identified. Please note that Mosquito, Creek Trail from Queens Road to Montroyal Boulevard is aot a designated bikeway on the North Vancouver Bicycle Master Plan. JImporte Hey, Canada, wake-up! Dear Editor: Its time Canadians woke up to the kind of government we have in Ottawa. Mr. Rock, our unjust Justice Minister, must think we're all stupid. At the very least. he's counting on us all being asleep. On Sept. 18. 1995, MPs voted overwhelmingly not to legally recognize same-sex spouses. On the same note, the Supreme Court of Canada stated that society has the legal right and duty to preserve and promote the heterosexual family even at the expense of other types of relationships. n-D inock- Pricing Sa what did our haughty government do? In open defiance of the Supreme Court of Canada and the views of the Canadian peo- ple. they went ahead anyway behind closed doors and granted benefits to homosex- ual couples. It doesn't take more than a cretin to sec that this is not democracy. We are, indeed, being ruled by an arrogant dictatorship that shows con- tempt for the intelligence of the taxpaying public. . : The benefits in question being granted are bereave- ment leave, leave for family- related responsibilities, D (ti lee’ Et / Our buyers have just returned from South America and Asia with a large “ol omen of coloured gemstones.
