TOYOTA CANADA Inc. an-
nounced recently that it will in-
troduce to Canada a new line of
luxury automobiles in 1990 to be

distributed by a new division cailed _

Lexus.

porates advanced electronics tech-
nology with luxury appointments
and unique aerodynamic styling
which will reflect the public’s

Hector Dupuis, senior vice presi-
dent of Toyota Canada Inc.

“*To satisfy the market segment
for luxury cars with high perfor-
mance capabilities is our goal.
Lexus will realize this objective
with a separate division of approx-
imately 25 high quality dealers ini-
tially covering the major markets
in Canada for this type of car.”’

The anticipated initial sales vol-
ume of Lexus is around 4,000 units
annually. Wayne A. Jefferey will
be the General Manager of Lexus
Division. .

“There has been an upward shift
in buyer. interest which invites us to
pursue that niche and satisfy our
present and future customers.
Maturing baby boomers have
created an expanded market for
cars of luxury and advanced tech-
nology which we cannot ignore.”

At the leading edge of
automotive technology, two new
199] Lexus models, built by
Toyota Motor Corporation in
Japan, will be introduced in the
Fall of 1990. Both models will be a
four-door body style; one will be a
V8-powered Luxury Sedan while
the other will be a V6-powered
personal Sporty Sedan.
