Youth Leadership Conference set

SIX HUNDRED B.C. high schoo!
delegates will be gearing up to
combat drinking and driving as
they participate in the 1987
CounterAttack Youth Leadership
Conference in Vancouver Nov. 1
to 4,

The event, organized by the In-
surance Corporation of B.C. and
the Ministry of Attorney General,
brings together student and teacher
representatives from most of the
B.C. school districts.

Featured speakers include the
three cabinet ministers recently

appointed to the provincial pov-
ernment’s Traffic Safety Commit-
tee. They are Lyall Hanson,
Minister of Labor and Consumer
Services (the Minister responsible
for ICBC); Cliff Michael, Minister
of Transportation and Highways;
and Attorney General Brian Smith.

National and local authorities
will also be addressing the
delegates on a variety of topics
with an emphasis on drinking and
driving issues.

Conference highlights include
the provincial finals of the
ICBC-BCAA public speaking con-
test on drinking and driving, the
Solicitor Genera! Crime Prevention
Awards Ceremony and a 10th-
birthday celebration for the pro-
vincial CounterAttack drinking
driving program.

The Westin Bayshore is hosting
the three-day event.
