A former coach of the England national youth team, Bramley is currently head soccer coach at Nottingham University. Assisting Bramley with specialized coaching sessions will be former England World Cup star Gordon Banks -~ a guest instructor of the BCSA in the summer of 1983 —- and Paul Sturrock, Dundee United striker and Scottish national team member, also a guest in- structor at the BCSA’s Sum- mer Soccer Academy held an- nually at Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island. Housed at the Lea Green Training Center mear' Matlock in Derbyshire, the players and game officials will stay at a facility used on many occasions by the England national soccer: team, as well as the English F.A. for their referee and coaching certification programs. The players and referees will spend two weeks immers- ed in a soccer education pro- gram designed to provide the participants with intensive training from top. class coaches. The trip will also in- clude side trips to top level professional matches, a visit to historic Wembley Stadium in London, the traditional home of the England na- tional team, and site of the 1966 World Cup final, plus a conducted tour of the City of London and several points of interest around Derbyshire and adjoining counties. Games against local area and county representative teams have also been arrang- ed for the players and the referees in the group. “Ill be two weeks of soc- cer saturation,’’ says Chur- chard. ‘‘The players and the referees will realize a deeper understanding of the world game through observation and participation,’’ he adds. “Prior to the trip most of the players will have had limited exposure to the ‘real’ game.
