PAVILION Aa the Commerce we're proud of our corporate partnership in the B.C. Pavilion at Expo ‘86. And we're proud of our roots in B.C. ’ We. go back to 1862, when the Bank of British Cofumbia, which merged with the Commerce in 1901, opened branches in Victoria and New Westminster. In 1863 service was extended to the Cariboo gold fields. In 1886 a branch was opened in the heart of the business district on Cordova Street West - the first banking office in the newly founded Gty of Vancouver. That was a ceritury ago. The Bank and the isolated young province on the West Coast have come a Jong way together. How far British Columbia has come will be obvious to every visitor to Expo ‘86. How far the Commerce has come may be judged by the widespread branch network which now serves the residents and the business community of B.C. Our faith in the future of this beautiful province remains steadfast, as demon- strated in the newly completed Commerce” Place in Vancouver and by our partnership in the B.C. Pavilion at Expo ‘86.
