made from good plywood.
The only other requirements
are wood filler, glue, naus,
shellac, paint and = sand-
paper.

The finished house can be
decorated to your child's
taste. It should be men-
tioned that the house is
approximately ‘4 inch-scale,
so that '4 inch-scale fur-
niture will fit.

Q. I'm making a built-in of
plywood that is to be
painted. I'm using fir
plywood 4: and % in. thick
and want the exposed edges
finished smooth -_ really
smooth. How can I do this?

A. There are several ways of
finishing exposed edges of
plywood, according to
Popular Mechanics” En-
cyclopedia. Where they are
to be painted or enameled
the problem is easy lo solve

The first step is to fill any
voids along the exposed
edges Wood putty serves
this purpose nicely. but be
sure tl is pressed firmly into
each opening Then strike
off the excess shghtly above
the surface so vou can sand
the putty flush alter it
hardens As a cule, the rest
of that coarse, gritty edge
that usually shows even alter
a couple of coats of parat or
enamel can also be filled and
sanded flush
