VANCOUVER “(UPC):
Prince Charles got a glimpse
of life on “Vancouver's
teeming waterfront Tuesday
on a tour of a fisherman's
wharf and a giant grain
terminal during the second
of his three-day visit.

The prince watched with
interest while brightly-clad,
aproned women _=§shore-
workers filleted red snappers
as they. ‘moved along a
conveyor belt at J.S. Mc-
Millan Fisheries Ltd.
packing plant, his first stop
of a busy day. °

One of the women on the
line asked Prince Charles if
he’d ever been to
Billingsgate fish market in
London, England, her old
home.

“I just stopped him, I
wanted to find out if he'd
been to Billingsgate they
have a big auction there,”
said Rose McCallum later.
“But he said he'd never
been.”

After a quick tour of the
plant, the 31-year-old prince
took advantage of the
postcard-perfect weather to
stroll across the Campbell
Avenue fisherman’s wharf to
Ocean Fisheries Ltd. can-
ning plant.

Smiling and looking
relaxed in a grey, pinstriped
suit, blue striped shirt and
dark tie, the prince stopped
several times along the wharf
to speak with scattered

onlookers that placed
themselves strategically
along his path.

“We've been waiting over
an hour to see him,” said two
young women charmed by
the prince’s brief comments
to them.

The first thing they
noticed about England's
most eligible bachelor?

“His eyes,” crooned Kris
Fors, 23. “His complexion,”
piped up her 19-year-ald
companion Joanne Stalker.
“He has beautiful red cheeks
and clear skin.”

From the canning plant,
Charles — surrounded as
ever by his faithful flank of
dark-suited RCMP security
officers — boarded the
luxury power boat M.V.
Neptune Spirit I and headed

across Vancouver’s Burrard
Inlet to the Saskatchewan
Wheat Pool’s grain terminal.
There he donned a yellow
hard hat for a quick tour of
the facility's control room
The British heir }s visiting
British Columbia primarily
in his role as president of the
International Council of

United World Colleges,
which on Wednesday will
hold its annual meeting at
Pearson
Victoria.
