NORTH Vancouver

fisheries, wildlife and the
environment as well as draft
an environmental protection
plan.

It will seek to address con-
cerns over increasing urban-
ization, loss of habitat for fish
and encouragement of public
education and stewardship of
the city’s environment.

The action plan will be
phased in over a period of five

funded at $120,060, to be
increased ta $180,000 by
2002. This would require an
additional $90,000 out of the
city’s general fund base bud-
get for the year Z001, rising

port to start the program,” he

Currie hoped the program
would permeate through all
the city’s departments to
effect improvement: in envi-
ronmental quality.

“The idea is to do a pro-
gram review every year and
make refinements as it pro-
gresses,” he said.

Carrie said the committee
has some work to do now that
it has fulfilled its original
mandate.

“We've got to go back and
