are winning approval

Graham said that business out
of the trailer has been ~‘surprising-
ly good,’* adding that the liquor
store has retained most of its regu-
lar clientele.

Situated in another trailer near-
by are the combined office spaces
of Dr. D.M. Tye, Dr. M. Martis
and Dr. M.A. Boileau Inc. They're
very busy, according to recep-
tonist Leidy Westcott, but the
trailer is awkward to work in.

Everyone is looking forward to
moving back across the parking lot
to new office space, they hope by
the end of September.

Westview Veterinary Services,
which has been operating out of a
trailer for a month, should be back
in new office space by November.

The adjacent Video Station has
been told it can move out of its
trailer in. about three months.

Their business has not been greatly
affected by the upset.

A much happicr story comes
from merchants who have already
moved into new premises. Business
is better than ever at the Westview
Bakery, operating in the shopping
centre for about 20 years, and now
situated next to Safeway since June
10.

The office building on Westview
is completed. There you can find
several old friends: Frank's
barbershop, Troy Music, Crest
Realty and Crest Insurance.

Also under construction, the
new eMrance just off Westview
Drive will angle in at the office
building into the parking lot,
where the spaces will be reorganiz-
ed to face the stores.

Safeway has scrapped original
expansion plans, so a two-storey
parkade is no longer necessary.

But a new facade for the grocery
store is being considered.

A restaurant is planned for the
space next to the new office
building. Further retail space may
also be developed close to the
highway, where the trailers are
now located. The merchants
association is hoping that another
“tanchor™’ business will be chosen
for that space.

Even though business may have
fallen off, Westview Shopping
Centre has many loyal customers.

“I'm tired of those ‘mega’
things, with all these hordes of
people,”’ said Beverley Phillips.
“I'm looking for quicter places.*’

Karen Smith continues to fre-
quent the centre.

“Once you've figured out where
everybody is, you're OK,"’ she
remarked.

The renovation and new
development is being handled by
centre owners, Adams Properties
Group.
