At the June lth Public Hearing, West
Vancouver Council was informed that 685
people had written, faxed or signed petitions
about our plans for a 27-hole championship
golf course on Hollyburn Ridge. 633, or 92%
expressed support for our plans.

Council heard from golfers and non-
golfers, business and professional people,
students, the retired — all interested and
concerned about the community we live in
and its recreational facilities.

Within the next few weeks, we expect to
announce more details about memberships
and the development schedule.

We remain dedicated to building the
finest golf course for West Vancouver and
keeping everyone informed.

THE FOLLOWING people ap-
peared in North Vancouver and
West Vancouver provincial courts
tecently to face various charges.

Before Judge R.D. Grandison in
North Vancouver provincial court
on June 12:

Pariz Hosseinpour, 37, of Bur-
naby, was fined $500 and ordered
to keep the peace after being
found guilty of committing an
assault in North Vancouver on
March 20.

He was also ordered to have no
contact with his victim and
ordered to stay away from his vic-
tim’s residence.

Terry Ralph Newman, 44, was
sentenced to a one-month jail
term, placed on probation for one
month and ordered to take a drug
and alcohol treatment program
after he was found guilty of theft
under $1,000 in connection with
an incident in which merchandise
was stolen from Overwaitea Foods
Ltd.

Eric Lee, 36, of Vancouver, was
fined $250 after pleading guilty to
driving without due care and at-
tention.
