Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver
spokesman Jerry Miller, is part of
what the North America-wide ser-
vice organization is all about.

“We don't ask the big brothers
to be substitute fathers,’’ he said.
“The friendship and consistent
male companionship is what's im-
portant.’’

Right now, the organization
boasts about 300 big brothers, but
the demand is outstripping the
supply. With a waiting list of 100
potential brothers — and more
waiting to even get on the list —
big brothers are needed, Miller
said.

‘If we had the big brothers we
could accommodate more little
brothers. We’re not able to mect
the need because there are not
enough men volunteers."*

brother must be at least 19 years
old and willing to put in a com-
mitment of four to six hours a
