Classic Yarn in Capilano Mall is sponsoring a knit-a-than where participants are invited to knit a small gift item to be given to the North Vancouver Christmas Bureau. Owners Eileen Overes and Joan Tweedy decided 10 organize the knit-a-thon early to get as many contributions as possible. Their slogan is **knit your bit.”’ “Any little item would be a wel- come addition," said Overes. DONATIONS BEGUN She said donations have already begun to arrive and some of the suggested knit items to make are toques, mitts, scarves, doll’s blanket, pot-holders and sweaters. “Our goal is to make as many people happy with handmade knit- ted gifts as possible,”” she said. “By November 15 we hope to hase the (store’s display) window full.” Overes said each time a donation is given, the knitter’s name will be added to 2 raffle draw. The prize is $25 worth of yarn from Classic Yarn. People are encouraged to enter more than once, KNITTERS CONTACTED She said if people have leftover yarn, but do not have the time to knit, they can donate the yarn to the knit-a-thon. The organizers are in the process of contacting knit- ters through church groups, senior citizens’ homes and ladies clubs to find interested knitters.
