The mischievous, electric
planet Mercury, once again,
appears to play a “passive
partner” role in the cosmic
scheme of things, assuming a
“retrograde” motion in the
heaven May 21 - June 14, in
Gemini. Astrological history
of 5000 years of observation
appears to confirm over-
whelmingly the fact that no
new ventures are likely to
succeed under this in-
fluence.

Let us all therefore wait
out this unauspicious time in
our ventures of whatever
nature, if at all possible,
depending upon impending
pressures of current
business.

The Okanagan Summer
School of the Arts is offering
an evening and morning
course for women, aimed at
encouraging that creativity
which is inherent in all of us.

It will be arrived at by
watching film and _ slide
presentations, by ex-
perimenting in a variety of
techniques and seeing other
members of the course also
working into personal ap-
proaches and ways of ex-
pression.

The sessions will include:

Collage - employing paper
and/or

fabric of various
densities and colours to
learn placement of form

within the picture making
area, use of positive and
negative space and com-
position, to educate the eye
in the basis of underlaying
design.
Contour and other drawing
to develop an unself-
conscious ability to put
down information, in those
not accustomed to it - to
combat the “I can’t draw a
straight line” mentality.
Doodling as a legitimate
design introduction. As a
way of letting ideas flow so
that you can work on them,

Adult Education in Nelson,
Kelowna and Vernon.

She was born and raised
on an Okanagan Valley
apple orchard. Although she
has travelled widely and
lived in other countnes and
with other cultures, her foot-
steps keep bringing her back
to the Okanagan.
