survey among Nofth Shore
phone users covering all
aspects of the service from
installations and long
distance calls to directories
and billing Practices.

The Survey continues until
the coming weekend, after
which North Shore results
will be collated and added to

similar survey | results
gathered throughout the
province, At the end of

September the B.C. Branch
of the CAC will present the
information in the form of a
brief to the Canadian Radio-
Television and Telecom-
munications Commission.

Among the methods being
used to conduct the survey
are ‘phone calls to CAC

members and their friends,

random phone surveys and
the distribution of

. questionnaires at shopping:

malls and community

- meetings.

‘ Felephone users who have
not yet been contacted and
who wish to participate may
call the CAC (B.C.) office
direct at 682-2920 or 682-
3271.

The survey is described as
a response to the CRTC’s

“Working Paper on_ the
Quality of Telephone
Services’’ which was

prepared following the 1977
B.C. Tel rate hearing, when
many letters on the quality
of phone services were
received. by the Commission
from B.C. Tel subscribers.

NVYB in ‘Loveboat’
special Saturday

of some 30 million viewers
across Canada and_ the

Saturday, September 15,
when the hit TV series “The
Love Boat” opens its new fall
season.

The show, a two-hour
movie special, will be aired
from 9 to 11 p.m. on CKVU-
TV Channel 13. It) was
filmed this summer aboard
P&O/Princess Cruises’
Island Princess during an
Alaska cruise that originated
in Vancouver. The local
“extras” and the North Van
Youth Band were used in the

opening scenes which were
shot at CPR Pier C May 30.

In addition to Vancouver,
the scenic B.C. coastline and
Inside Passage to Alaska are
shown as the Island Princess
heads north to Juneau,
Glacier Bay and Sitka.

Besides the regular cast of
“The Love Boat", guest stars
in the show include longtime
favorites Ray Milland,
Eleanor Parker and Canada's
own Lorne Green of
“Bonanza” fame.

Although the 20,000-ton
Pacific Princess is usually
identified as “The Love
Boat” in the TV series, her
exact twin Island Princess
was used in this filming as
the “mobile movie set".
