Grain dust catches fire

NORTH Vancouver RCMP and firefighters were
dispatched to Vancouver Wharves Monday after-
noon after a grain fire was veported.

The fire broke out at approwinatels 4:45 pum. after some
grain dust caught fire in a collection system, causing a large
plume of smoke to escape trom the grain elevator in the 1400-
block of McKeen Avenue in North Vancouver.

No cmployees of Vancouver wharves witnessed the fre and
there were no injuries. North Vancouver firetighters were able
to easily extinguish the small tire.

ROMP have stated that the Jarge cloud of dust posed ne
health hazard to the public.

An investigation of the blaze is underway.
